KM British Brown Ale |
|||
| Batch Size: 5 gallons | Boil Time: 60 min. | ||
| Starting Gravity: ~1.048 | Finishing Gravity: ~1.020 | ||
| Primary Fermentation: | Secondary Fermentation: | ||
Ingredients:
5 lb Maris Otter pale ale malt 1 lb Victory malt 1 lb Gambrinus honey malt (20 L) 4 oz chocolate malt 10 oz oats .5 lb home-toasted Belgian Aromatic malt (toast malt on cookie sheet in 350 deg oven for 10 min) 1 lb light brown sugar (add near end of boil) 0.8 oz East Kent Goldings (5.8% AA) 60 min 0.5 oz Fuggles (3.4% AA) aroma Wyeast 1335 British II Ale yeast
Notes:
This is a little bit darker than some British browns, but has a nice ruddy tint. The oats keep it from drying out too much (the final gravity does stay a bit high) and add a nice creaminess and a great head.
